Dear Reader,
Welcome to the Bloom Edition 2026. Just as the season brings new life, this quarter at Donkey Books is all about growth, discovery, and the unfolding of new stories. From the scientific precision of our latest historical series to the dark, budding suspense of our upcoming psychological horror, we are excited to share what has been "blooming" in our archives and studios. In this edition, we dive into the medieval codes of the Artland, look ahead to a chilling April release, and reflect on a powerful afternoon of living history in Heemskerk.

Looking Back: A Successful Afternoon in Heemskerk
On Friday, March 13th, Donkey Books traveled to the Heemskerk Library for a special lecture on the social status of women in 18th-century Amsterdam.
We took a deep dive into the tragic fate of Aaltje Beeker, viewed through the eyes of her contemporary, Dorothea Robberts. The room was filled with engaged listeners, leading to a wonderful exchange of ideas and insightful questions. Why did society let Aaltje down, and why does her cry—"Toch is het mijn!"—still resonate so strongly in 2026?
It was a pleasure to meet so many readers at our book stand afterward for the signing session. Thank you to everyone who made this event so memorable!
