This gives you, as the author, more control over the entire process, from writing and editing to designing the cover and marketing. In this white paper, we share our personal experiences and lessons regarding self-publishing.

The truth behind the fiction
This paper describes a unique book series called “Fiction & Facts” that combines historical fiction with thorough historical research. Each book is based on true events and contains a fact section with transcripts of original documents and source references. The books focus on the lives of ordinary people in the 18th century and are based on research into the protagonist, his/her family, living environment, and acquaintances.

Index for facts
In the Fiction & Facts series, historical events are brought to life through fiction based on thorough research. Each book consists of a fictional story and a factual section, with genealogical information, reconstructions of the living environment, and original documents.
An index of place and personal names has been created for the factual section. This can be useful for genealogists or local historical research.
